Where does the competition start?

 

The competition is held on the north side of the Manhattan Beach Pier.

 

When does the race start?

 

Check-in is at 6:15 a.m. and the first heat is at 6:45 a.m.

 

 

Are there fees for the competition?

 

The fees are $40 (Adults) / $20 (under 18).

 

How is the competition conducted?

 

There is a limit of 108 male contestants (6-age groups) and 36 female contestants (2-age groups).  Each division will have approximately 3 preliminary heats of approximately 6 contestants.  The top 2 finishers in each preliminary heat will advance to a championship heat in that division.

 

How is the competition judged?

 

Judging is based on length, maneuvers, tricks and size of the wave.
