 Wieland Shield

The fierce competition between Victoria, Australia and Southern California lifeguards came down to the second to last event.  The California team was trying to score at least one more point to take the Wieland Shield to the final event to be held tonight at the International Surf Festival in Hermosa Beach at 7p.m.  See attached for the places and scores of the contested events.  The Wieland Shield is an exchange that takes place every two years.  The Aussies are here this year and the Yanks will travel down under in 2006 to try and reclaim the coveted Wieland Shield.  This event has been contested since 1967 and remains a highly competitive event which combines competition, education, and friendship.  Congratulations to both teams for a tight finish this year and camaraderie shared over the years.
