All contestants NOT in the 2008 2-mile swim must pass a 500-meter "check out" swim at the Hermosa Beach Pier (Lifeguard Station) on July 11, 18 or 19. (9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.) (Decision of Lifeguard at "check out" is final. 2008 ISF 2-mile swim contestants are exempt from "check out". NO EXCEPTIONS. This means that certificates from other ocean swims and events such as triathlons or Ironman competitions are NOT acceptable.
