Paddleboard racing has been one of the fastest growing sports. The demand for races and the increased number of participants make this paddle one of the more popular events of the International Surf Festival. This year event will be hosted by the South Bay Boardriders Club.
The course will be a water start which begins off the end of the Manhattan Beach Pier. Paddlers then paddle south parallel to shore, round the end of the Hermosa Beach Pier and finish on the beach just south of the pier.
There are male and female divisions in each of the four classes. The classes are Unlimited Class; Stock Class; Soft Boards Class; and Standup Boards Class. The Unlimited Class consists of Paddleboards over 12' in length. The Stock Class is for all Paddleboards under 12' in length. The Soft Boards Class are for ages 9-11, 12-13, & 14-17. The Standup Paddleboards are for men and women age 49 & under; and 50 & over.
Paddlers must provide their own paddleboards, however, as a courtesy, the L.A. County Lifeguards provide a limited supply of soft paddleboards the morning of the race at the Manhattan Beach Pier. These boards are available on a first come firt serve basis.
Entries must be received by August 4 or a late charge will be assessed. Event applications, race results, and event photos are available from a link on this webpage.
